Peace education and transnational regulation in Latin America Human rights, memory and coexistence

Abstract

This article exposes the development of transnational regulation carried out by UNESCO, as an element that allowed the implementation of educational projects and policies on peace issues. Thus, from a historical perspective, and based on a documentary analysis, we saw how the discourse on youth has changed since the 1980s and elements of diversity, identity, human rights and a culture of peace have been incorporated. Concepts that, when combined with the Latin American reality, led to the implementation of policies on memory, human rights and coexistence; fundamental axes, and approaches to think about Peace education as formal education.

Andrea del Pilar Lozano Bohórquez, Universidade Federal do Estado do Rio de Janeiro

Graduada en Sociología e historia de la Pontificia Universidad Javeriana de Bogotá

(Colombia). Estudiante de maestría en Educación y políticas públicas de la Universidade

Federal do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (Brasil), donde hace parte del grupo de investigación

"Juventude: Políticas públicas, processos sociais e educação".  Su tema de disertación se

centra sobre el análisis en sentido procesual de la educación para la paz en Colombia y

América Latina, así como la configuración de subjetividades a partir de dicho proceso.
