In order to guarantee a harmonious relationship between the parties involved and for the benefit of quality contents, the journal CoPaLa, Construyendo Paz Latinoamericana, invites its authors, reviewers, members of its Editorial and Scientific Committees, to maintain the highest standards of intellectual and scientific integrity.

 

Duties of the Editor

  • - To consult the Editorial Committee to solve problems related to the editorial policy of the journal.
  • - To grant an official certificate to the reviewers for each opinion issued.
  • - To take care of the validity of the journal's legal records.
  • - Ensure that the publication process complies with copyright regulations.
  • - Manage the material and human resources before the corresponding institutions for the proper functioning of the journal.

 

Functions of the Advisory Board (International and National)

The Advisory Board is made up of international and national academics of recognized quality. The functions of the Editorial Advisory Board are:

  • - To set guidelines in accordance with current national and international trends,
  • - To contribute to the maintenance of the high quality of the journal by making contributions, based on their experience, to the format and content of the journal,
  • - Establish, when necessary, general policies for the journal,
  • - Assist in the orientation and updating of various aspects of the journal.

 

Functions of the Editorial Committee

The Technical Editorial Committee is the internal organ of the journal. It is made up of research professors and the editor and publisher of the journal. The functions of the Technical Editorial Committee are:

  • - To assist in the revision, updating and formulation of policies,
  • - To act as a liaison between the journal's publishing institution and other institutions, either with individual academics or academic groups,
  • - To contribute ideas for the improvement of the journal, both in format and content
  • - Propose reorientation of the journal's objectives and supervise that the quality of the journal is maintained,
  • - To be the consulting body for the editor and the editor in cases not foreseen in the guidelines for contributors or in their editorial policies.

 

Functions of reviewers/disseminators:

  • - Not to transfer their role as reviewer to other researchers.
  • - Declare and explain, if there is any, a conflict of interest to make their opinion.
  • - To treat with respect and under terms of confidentiality the text whose review has been assigned to them.
  • - Maintain secrecy of their participation as reviewer even after the work has been published.
  • - Issue their verdict according to the merits and/or weaknesses of the assigned text, using the review form available to them.
  • - Send the results of their evaluation within the period established by the journal.
  • - Under no circumstances may they quote or copy the text entrusted to them.

 

Obligations of the authors:

  • - Send unpublished collaborative proposals, which are not in other editorial processes.
  • - Follow the Norms for publication stipulated by the journal CoPaLa, Construyendo Paz Latinoamericana.
  • - Download, sign and send the Assignment of Publication and Non-Exclusive Use Rights document, once your work has been accepted for publication.
  • - Correct, expand, or improve your texts, once they have been accepted for publication, if there are any observations from the reviewers.
  • - Send corrections of their texts within the period requested by the journal.

 

The following behaviors are considered unacceptable:

  • - Plagiarism: partial or total reproduction of work other than that of the proposing researcher, whether published or unpublished, without credit to the author. Those documents in which plagiarism is committed will automatically suspend the processing of manuscripts and will be rejected.
  • - Simultaneous submission of the same article for different publications: the identification of this will result in the disqualification of the article as a candidate for publication or in the automatic withdrawal of the opinion process, as the case may be.
  • - Corruption or manipulation of the review process: If a conflict of interest is detected, the result will be annulled and the reviewer involved or the paper will be removed, as the case may be.
  • - Indication or suggestion in the report, by the reviewer, to take into account own publications to enrich or improve some aspect of the reviewed work.

 

Unacceptable conduct

  • - Send contributions in the process of being reviewed or published in another journal.
  • - When plagiarism or unethical academic practices are identified.
  • - Not respecting the deadlines set by the journal during the editorial process.
  • - Withdrawing the text when it is already in the review process.
  • - Wanting to make substantive or content changes in the final version of texts that have been accepted.
  • - Adding or omitting co-authors who did not appear from the beginning in the collaboration.

 

Penalties

Sanctions range from 1 to 3 years without being able to publish in the Journal and are determined by the Editorial Committee, according to specific cases.
