Peer Review and Assessment Policy
Revista CoPaLa. Construyendo Paz Latinoamericana carries out the academic evaluation of manuscripts through peer review under a double-blind modality. In this process, authors do not know the identity of those who review their works and reviewers do not know the identity of the authors.
Initial Editorial Review
Received manuscripts first go through an initial editorial review, in which thematic relevance, compliance with publication guidelines, originality, anonymity of the file, minimum formal quality and correspondence with the focus of the journal are verified.
Academic Evaluation
Manuscripts that meet these criteria are sent to two reviewers who are specialists in the corresponding thematic area, preferably external to the publishing institution.
Reviewers must evaluate manuscripts with objectivity, confidentiality, impartiality, thematic competence, academic respect and absence of conflict of interest.
Evaluation Criteria
The evaluation criteria consider thematic relevance, originality, theoretical soundness, methodological coherence, argumentative quality, currency and relevance of sources, clarity of results, contribution to the field of knowledge, academic and social relevance, as well as adherence to the journal’s editorial guidelines.
Decisions of the Assessment Process
The possible decisions of the assessment process are:
- Publish without changes.
- Publish with minor modifications.
- Publish with major modifications.
- Do not publish.
Discrepancy between Reviews
In the event of a substantive discrepancy between reviews, the manuscript may be sent to a third academic evaluation. The final editorial decision corresponds to the editorial team, considering the reviews received, the quality of the corrections, the relevance of the manuscript for the journal and compliance with the editorial guidelines.
Confidentiality of Reviews
Reviews are confidential and must be formulated with clear, respectful and constructive arguments. Receipt of a manuscript does not guarantee its publication.
Confidentiality and Use of External Tools
Reviewers must not share, reproduce, cite, use or enter, totally or partially, manuscripts into external generative artificial intelligence platforms, translation services, online proofreaders, summarization systems, textual analysis tools or any other service that compromises the confidentiality of the editorial process.
